Yearscapes

Frequently asked questions

Is Yearscapes actually free?
Yes. There's no paid tier, no credit card required, and no time limit on your account. See the Pricing page for how it stays that way.
Do I need to create an account?
Yes. A free account is what lets your plan save and stay there when you come back. Sign up with an email and password, or with Google.
How does the growth timeline actually work?
Every plant you place grows toward its real mature size over time, up to 8 years, based on that species' actual growth rate (fast, medium, or slow) rather than a fixed animation that looks the same for everything. Drag the timeline to see your plan at any point along the way.
What if I don't know much about plants?
You can filter the plant catalog by your hardiness zone and how much light a spot gets, then browse from there. You don't need to already know what you're looking for.
Can I mark plants that are already in my yard?
Yes, even if you don't know the exact species. Pick a general category like tree, shrub, or perennial, add an approximate size, and it'll show up on your plan alongside anything new you're adding.
Where do I actually buy the plants?
Your plan builds a shopping list automatically, organized by when to buy each thing. Direct buy-now links to a retailer aren't turned on yet, so for now use the shopping list to know what to look for and buy it wherever you'd like.
Can I share my plan with someone else?
Yes. You can generate a read-only link to a specific plan and share it with anyone. They can view it, including the growth timeline, but can't edit it.
Does it work on my phone?
Yearscapes works in any modern browser, but the design canvas is easiest to use on a larger screen like a laptop or tablet. The drag-and-drop experience isn't optimized for small phone screens yet.
Is my data private?
Your plans are private to your account. Nobody else can see them unless you generate a share link. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail on what's collected and how it's used.
